This headband was my first attempt at cabling; I think it turned out quite nice. Any yarn will probably work for this, however bigger yarns will make the headband bigger. Anyways, it’s quite cute. Enjoy!
*If you find errors in the pattern, please let me know. Also, I made this to fit my head. Adjust the length as you see fit and add more buttonholes if needed!
Materials
- 1 hank Silky Wool by Designer’s Choice, 50 g, approx 192 yrd/175 m (65% wool, 35% silk)
- Size US 5 Needles
- Cable Needle
- Tapestry Needle
- 1 3/4″ button
Finished Measurements
When flat, approx. 2″ x 22″
Headband
CO 20 sts.
- Rows 1 and 3: P2, *K4, P2*, repeat from * to * to end.
- Rows 2 and 4: K2, *P4, K2*, repeat from * to * to end.
- Row 5: P2, *C4B, P2*, repeat from * to * to end.
- Row 6: Repeat row 2.
Repeat rows 1-6 29 times. Next, create 3 button holes at the end of your headband (so repeat this step 3 times).
- Row 1: P2, K4, P2, Bring the yarn around to the front of the right needle and K2tog wrapping the yarn around the right needle as usual, K2, P2, K4, P2 - 20 sts
- Rows 2 - 6: repeat as rows 2 - 6 above.
Bind off.
Weave in ends using a tapestry needle. Sew button onto end opposite of buttonholes (using your yarn!). Now, put on your new headband and button it closed!
