I’ve been spinning…

Oh, how I love alpaca. I just finished my first handspun alpaca yarn. I was planning on selling it…but brown is my favorite color and it’s just oh so soft. I’m pretty sure it wants to be a cute hat for the winter. Maybe with a flower on it? I plan on buying more of this wonderful fiber and spinning up another for my store.
I also spun a novelty yarn. I had some beautiful goldish colored yarn that I didn’t know what to knit with, so I spun up a single of brown corriedale and plied the two together. It had a lot of what I will call stretch to it. When I took it off the niddy noddy, the hank shrunk by half it’s size! Nothing a little weighing down didn’t fix though! Now it’s perfect.
You are probably getting a little bit anxious to see the knitted Betsy version. She’s almost done! I have 5 more stripes to knit on it, then I need to figure out how I’m going to knit the flower stars. I’m hoping to have her up sometime next week. I will also be selling this actual knitted blanket too! How exciting, I know.
Now on to another endeavor of mine. I’ve began blogging at CraftTutorials. It’s a very cool website where the bloggers test online tutorials or give there on. You can check out my first post here.
Has anyone joined the Ravelympics? I’m thinking about it, but can decide what event (or team!) to join.
Happy Knitting,
Kate

Mmm, alpaca… those are some really nice browns–I’m glad you decided to keep it!
