On your [stitch] mark.
December 30, 2007 at 6:46 pm | In Beading, Crafts, Crochet, Gifts, Jewelry, Knitting, Life, Projects, Sewing, Socks, Stitch Markers, Yarn | No CommentsI made stitch markers!

From left to right: “Green with Envy,” “The Color of Purls,” “Permafrost,” “Wisteria,” and “Lily Pads”
I just need more beads now!
Some other things I’ve been up to are learning to use a sewing machine (it’s not that hard!) and trying to finish my sister’s one sock! I’ve also thought of another pattern to create, but I still haven’t even started the others.
Happy Knitting,

A Wonderful Surprise.
December 25, 2007 at 10:29 pm | In Antiques, Christmas, Crafts, Crochet, Family, Gifts, Knitting, Projects, Yarn | No CommentsSo, I complained about my grandma in the last post.
Well, do you remember this thing?

My grandparents fixed the broken piece, and gave this to me for Christmas. I’ll be wrapping skeins for as long as this thing holds out.
Another great knitting surprise! My sister bought me some old timey spools to wrap my yarn around. I can’t wait to buy my first house!
Happy Knitting and Merry Christmas,
Kate
Holiday Cheer.
December 24, 2007 at 9:53 pm | In Christmas, Church, Crafts, Family, Gifts, Knitting, Life, Projects, Socks, Yarn, scarves | No CommentsIt’s Christmas Eve, which means chaos for my family. Traditionally, we attend church for the Christmas Vigil. By we, I mean my mom, dad, brother, sister, the boyfriends, aunt, 3 cousins, and my grandparents.
However, my sister has placed her fiance’s family as her first priority, so she skipped church to go to their house. She also does this same type of thing at Thanksgiving, and arrives at our house angry because no one at our house waited on her before eating. Our plans on Christmas tomorrow also depend on what time she is going to her fiance’s parents house.
After church, we went to my aunt’s house, as we do every year, to feast on some delicious chicken, cookies, and vegetables with dip. While driving down the highway, my sister kept calling me asking me tons of questions. “Are mom and dad with you? Why aren’t you with them? Why are you in separate cars? WHY DO YOU HAVE AN ATTITUDE WITH ME!?” I definitely did not have an attitude. I was simply answering yes and no while driving down a dark road and trying to change lanes. I got an attitude with her though and started screaming about how I didn’t have an attitude before, but I do now that she accused me of having one, then hung up the phone.
At my aunt’s house, the boyfriend and I said all of our hellos, ate, opened a few gifts, then headed out the door. My grandma stopped me before I left to give me a goodbye hug. Her and my sister have the exact same personality. This year my grandma told my mother that all of the children need to get her a gift for Christmas. I think I started this because I made her a scarf last year - a scarf she hasn’t worn! She thinks I’m knitting her a sock this year…which I’m definitely not. I think any knitter would understand this. She could have at least worn that scarf in front of me once! My mom was trying to find something that she owned for me to give to my grandma. I told her not to do that; instead, I would just take one of the junky scarves I made when I first started knitting and give it to my grandma, so that she can have another scarf to throw into the closet.
Once I finally started to go out the door, my sister started screaming at me. “WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH MY PURSE! THAT’S A $250 PURSE! OH WELL I GUESS, YOU’VE ALREADY GOT IT NOW! EMPTY YOUR STUFF OUT OF IT ONCE YOU GET HOME!” I found this purse on our bedroom floor, which hasn’t been vaccuumed in a long time. Not only was it on our bedroom floor, but it was buried under a million different things. I went out to the car after she screamed at me, empty out all of my stuff into the car, walked back in and gave her the purse back, telling her that she should just throw it back onto the floor once she gets home. It’s really annoying that she gets like this when she borrows everything of mine when I’m at home without even asking.
So, there’s a glimpse at my Christmas Eve. Needless to say, my sister’s sock is the only one that I haven’t finished. I’m not in any rush to finish it either.
I hope you are having a Merry Christmas.
Happy Knitting,
Kate
