A Center Complete.
September 10, 2007 at 6:38 pm | In Art, Bags, Blogroll, Crafts, Knitting, Life, Nature, Projects, Yarn | 2 CommentsI just completed the center of the Stag Bag from Knit Scene. I decided to go ahead and start this project because Colorwork is the KH monthly challenge for September. The only adjustment I made was the yarn. Instead of us
ing Berroco Ultra Alpaca Light, I am using Red Heart Super Saver. I know, a completey different weight of yarn! It’s okay though, it’s a bag…the bigger the better. The star push pins are not part of the bag!
Thursday is the first meeting of Knit Chat in my dorm. Each meeting, the knitters will either learn about an important date in knitting, learn a new technique, or recieve a copy of a pattern. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. The skill level varies - I know some people who already know who to knit are coming, but I’m sure there will be people seeking to learn. I am really excited to see how this program turns out.
In other news, I am sending out my secret swapper package tomorrow! Once she receives the package I will let you know what she got!
Happy Knitting,
Kate
Hello.
September 7, 2007 at 3:41 pm | In Art, Blogroll, Crafts, Crochet, Football, Knitting, Life, Love, Projects, Yarn | No CommentsSo another post after being MIA for awhile. I haven’t gotten much knitting done while getting settled into school and maintaining order on my residence floor. However, I did finish this beauty. My boyfriend bought the yarn for it ($22).
It’s just simple sideways garter stitch and it turned out very long. I can’t even hold it out straight it’s that tall, but it is a good thing. I’m almost done with the cinchy hat and stripy scarf from the Fall 2007 issue of knitscene. I plan on ripping out a plain green stockinette scarf because it looks like a garden snake. I also still have a wool sock on the needles that I started sometime near the beginning of summer. I don’t know what really lies in store next. I thought I’d give the stag bag (a free pattern from Knit Scene / Knitting Daily), but we will see if it is the next project, or somewhere further down the road.
As for other knitting news, I am in my first knitting swap! I check my mail on campus almost everyday waiting for my package of goodies to arrive. I’ll be sending the package to my swapper out next week; I am so excited to see what she thinks. I bought her three hanks for Cascade 220 and made her a scrapbook of patterns to go along with her theme (which I can’t say because she might see this!).
Tonight is the monthly Boone Art Crawl. I seem to have gotten into art now that I’ve returned to school, so I am really excited to go to this event. There is also a small outdoor concert that I will stop by. About two weeks ago, there was a fiber festival in Boone. What a treat! I had never been to one. Although this one was probably small compared to a lot of others, it was truly exciting to see work by other knitters and crocheters. Some items were for sale, but of course not the ones I wanted! There was also some hand dyed yarn for sale and some roving material.
Well, I am out of thoughts for today. I can’t wait to hear from you! By the way, did everyone hear about Appalachian? We beat Michigan 34-32.
Happy Knitting,
Kate
