A Peek.
April 29, 2007 at 9:02 pm | In Crafts, Crochet, Furniture, Knitting, Life | No CommentsHello all. Today’s post is going to be full of pictures. I hope you enjoy.
First off, I finished Buttercup Washcloth 2. The only thing I did different was to not add a hole or bow.

Next, I thought I would share a picture of one of the Blushing Grannies squares. I have decided that this is going to be a gift for The Boyfriend as it will look nice with his black comforter. I haven’t weaved in any ends yet, so forgive me for all the strings.

I also wanted to share pictures of the furniture I snatched from the pile yesterday. They are both a little beat up. I was thinking that maybe I could sand the wooden one down a bit to get rid of the scratches, and maybe stain it a nice color. Possibly some decoupage? The white one is most likely going to be The Boyfriends. He wants it plain, so I might just end up painting it a more active color. If anyone has done anything interesting to their furniture, please let me know. I would love some ideas.

Duck, Anyone?
April 28, 2007 at 11:05 pm | In Animals, Crafts, Crochet, Furniture, Knitting, Love, Nature, Walk | 1 CommentToday is a day of order for me. You will soon learn that I love making lists. I love order. Everything has a place and needs to stay in its place. Organizing makes me extremely happy and calm.
After I finished my morning routine, I decided that I just need to spend a day for me. Of course, for me, that means knitting. So here is how the day went. First, I would knit 6 rows on my Buttercup Washcloth 2. Then I would knit the next color on one of my Blushing Grannies squares. After that, I would look through some knitting and crochet patterns. Then, I would restart the routine. Alas though, I didn’t finish anything.
Later in the day, I went for a walk to brighten my mood that suddenly dropped. I walked on the pathway by the creek, then spent some time at the duck pond. Ducks are very interesting creatures to watch. I just imagined what they were thinking and saying to each other as I sat there and watched them. I wanted so badly to get a picture of one flying into the water, but my camera is too slow. However, I did get a few shots of some fighting ducks. My night ended with a walk home in the dark.
Good news of the day! I got some steals from the free pile downstairs in the dorm. I will add pictures of them later. I got a cute glass vase and two shelves. One of my dormmates told me that some girls got a futon from the pile, what a great deal. I have decided to go check the pile more often.
Well, I am off to more knitting.
Stay well,
Kate
A Day of Rain and Antiques.

At first, today was going to be a day of studying, laying by the creek with the one I love, and flying kites. However, the weather decided otherwise. As soon as the boyfriend and I walked outside, dark clouds were hovering above our heads. We didn’t mind though and continued on our way to the creek.
The wind started picking up as soon as we spread out our blanket and I, the silly one in a tank top, felt chilly. Our papers were blowing everywhere. Eventually, we both decided that today wasn’t the right day to sit by the creek, packed up our stuff, and headed back to the dorm room.
Once inside, neither of us could study. It is Reading Day at school, the day right before exams. I suggested we go antiquing, tire ourselves out, and maybe then we will sit down and study.
After grabbing our umbrellas, we headed off downtown. Of course, once we got there our umbrellas came to use. The rain started pouring down. Neither of us minded. Throughout the stores I oohed and ahhed at some items. I have been on a scavenger hunt for anything to do with knitting, crocheting, embroidery, or sewing (The last time I went antiquing I found a sewing box full of fabrics for only $7, I was quite excited). Although I didn’t find anything to do with any of that, I bought an “Everything you need to know about Decoupage” book for $1. I thought it might be a fun craft to learn. The rain finally stopped on the way back home.
I have made some progess on my Blushing Grannies Afghan. I have fully completed seven squares and only have 28 more to do. I would love to complete it, along with Buttercup Washcloth 2 before leaving school for the summer next Thursday. We will see how that goes.
Happy Knitting,
Kate
